History

Farnham Road Club History

There is no known record of the history of the Road Club although there is a badge which shows Farnham Castle with a date of foundation as 1928. There is also an article in the Surrey & Hants paper (March 29, 1961) which states the Club was founded in 1929 by Jack Stone, Dennis Goddard & Len Lamport.

In the book "Winged Wheel", which is a history of the CTC (Cyclists Touring Club) there is reference to local cycling groups, under the CTC banner, setting up racing sections and these were known as Road Clubs. The title suggests that this could well be the origins of the Farnham club.
